LILLIAN PAULINE NICOL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom and amma peacefully at the Betel Home in Selkirk on Saturday, February 12 2011 at the age of 93. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Lorne (Wilma) and Larry (Arlene) Nicol; her grandchildren Kathi (Kevin) Long, John, Elaine Nicol and Duane (Erin) Nicol; five great-grandsons, her brothers Magnus and Victor (Helga) Magnusson; sister-in-law Eva (Bill) Hawryshko and numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents Einar and Olaf Magnuson; two brothers Johnny and Einar Magnusson; two sisters Florence Fraser and Sylvia Baty, and precious grandson Sean Nicol. Mom was a loving, friendly, generous, independent and witty person. Her family was her number one priority and they meant the world to her. She was always very happy to see them and would make them feel real special. Mom was born and lived the majority of her life in Selkirk MB. She was raised on the family dairy farm and delivered milk by horse and cart at the age of 12. In her early teens mom took care of many sick and elderly neighbours making life long friends. Mom had many jobs, Booth Fisheries, The Meat Market, etc. but her two long term jobs were dispatching at her brother's taxi firm (Will's Taxi) and then as a Heath Care Aide at the Betel Nursing Home, Selkirk where she finally retired at the age of 70. Moms favourite pastime was playing bingo with her bingo friends and dropping in to visit her family for a half cup of coffee. She also enjoyed a good game of crib. Mom loved all animals but especially cats, they had a very soft spot in her heart. In later years Mom enjoyed having family and friends stopping by for a little visit. We would like to thank the staff at the Betel Home for their loving and compassionate care of mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., Selkirk, MB. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A private family interment will follow in the spring. Mom, Amma you were a very special lady, you will be remembered and always loved now rest in peace. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
