Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID GEORGE KING 1938 - 2011 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of David George King. After a brief illness, David passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital on February 10, 2011 with his family at his side. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Joanne of 46 years; his children John (Alison) King, Stephen King, Kathy (Jeff) Spence, Jason (Jennifer) McRae-King; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Matthew King, Bowan, Sydonie and Kaden Spence, Meguire, Piper-Prairie and Poet McRae-King; his mother Lilian King; siblings Judy (Irvine) Johnson, Gary (Eva) King and Deborah (Derek) Thorvaldson; sister-in-law Sharron Miner; brothers-in-law Robert McRae, and Duncan (Doris) McRae; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David was predeceased by his father Jack King. David was born September 6, 1938 in Winnipeg. He graduated from Gordon Bell High School and completed his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation. On July 4, 1964, he married his best friend Joanne. David worked for Westfair Foods for 26 years and was Vice President, Finance and Administration at the time of his retirement. Throughout the years, he was involved in leadership roles for a number of sports teams and associations. David was a committed family man and his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, travelling and playing golf with those he cared about. David was also an Elder at the Church of Christ and was actively involved in serving the congregation for many years. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Grace Hospital third floor south for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Central Church of Christ, 170 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David to the Church of Christ Development Fund, 170 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 1H9, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
