Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY JEAN MCEACHERN (nee HOWIE) 1926 - 2011 Peacefully, with her daughter and son by her side, Audrey passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the age of 85. Mom will be lovingly remembered forever by her son Donald (Brenda); and daughter Joan (Mike). She also leaves to mourn her passing three grandchildren, Stacey (Joel), Paul and Sarah; and great- grandson Simon. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Alex, in 1990; infant daughter, Joanne; parents, George and Winifred Howie; and infant brother, Ross. Mom was born on the farm in Pleasant Point, Manitoba. She spent her early years in Carberry, Manitoba. During the Second World War Mom moved to Wallaceburg, Ontario, where she assembled Navy shells. After the war she moved to Portage la Prairie to work at the Air Force Base. It was here that she met the love of her life, Alex. They married in 1947 and together raised their family. Mom worked all her life at various jobs - Lincoln Solo Store in Weston, Stanley Hotel in Winkler, Pinewood Hotel in Powerview and the Canadiana Hotel from where she retired to enjoy her grandchildren. First and foremost in Audrey's life was the love she had for her family who came first before all else. Memorial service celebrating Audrey's life will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue.
