Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE STUART WEBBER (nee STEELE) September 29, 1923 to February 16, 2011 In the early hours of February 16, surrounded by loved ones and after a brief illness, Grace Webber died in her 87th year. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 65 years Marshall, children Marsha (Bob), Bruce (Brenda) and Randy (Mavis) as well as her pride and joy, her seven grandchildren Meaghan (Ray), Luke, Ben, Justin (Jenn), Travis, Quinn and Nigel and her great-grandchild Cooper. Grace was born September 29, 1923 in Winnipeg's West End. Growing up, she was active at Home Street United Church, attended Mulvey School and graduated from Gordon Bell in 1940. Before and during the war, she worked at Eaton's and then Moore Business Forms before marrying Marshall in 1946. Over the years she had many part time jobs finally retiring from Grace Hospital where she worked as an Occupational Therapy aid. Grace led a full, active life with many interests, including arts and crafts at which she spent many happy hours. When the family was young, there were car trips and camping and later the cottage at Rush Bay. After retirement Grace enjoyed traveling around the world with Marshall. Of special importance to Grace were long time relationships. Times with old friends were a joy and she enjoyed talking and laughing with them about their lives as they grew older together. Her Girls Club met for over 60 years. Club members were friends from school and after graduation. They faithfully met monthly over the winters but especially loved the annual summer weekend get-away at one another's cottages where they had a grand old time and let their hair down. She remained connected to members of her graduating class and always looked forward to their luncheons. It was Silver Heights United Church however, where she put her heart and soul. She enjoyed the friendships made through her and Marshall's years of involvement at SHUC. She was a life long member of the United Church Women and was always eager to help planning and organizing church events from helping to create church banners, the annual fall supper, social gatherings, Christmas celebrations and mission and outreach projects. In the 1960's she was a CGIT leader and cherished the relationships she formed with the young women in her group. Grace led a long, full life, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and her friends. We will miss her presence, lively curiosity, care and concern for others, delight in our antics and tears over our disappointments. And we will remember her always with much love. A service celebrating the life of Grace Webber will be held February 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Silver Heights United Church, 191 Garrioch Avenue with light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers in Grace's memory, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army in Winnipeg. The family would also like to extend a special thank-you to the staff on the second floor at Grace Hospital. Their kindness and empathy during this difficult time touched us all and ensured Grace's final hours were dignified and peaceful. NEIL BARDAL INC. FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
