JAMES JARVIE Suddenly on February 14,2011 James Matthew Jarvie passed away in Alonsa at the age of 77 years. He was born at home on the farm north of Alonsa, which his father and grandfather homesteaded, and was the third child in a family of six boys. He was predeceased by his father and mother Robert and Marion, his wife Olive, and sons-in-law, Randy and Dave. He is survived by his stepdaughters Beverley (Donald), Sylvia (Bruce), and Bonnie, stepsons Barry (Trish) and Bruce (Sherrie); 18 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, brothers Edward (Angela), Walter (Shirley), Robert, Harold (Emily) and Donald (Beverley). Jim married Olive Darling in 1977 and they lived on the family farm until 1977. They then moved to Fort McMurray where he worked for Suncor for 16 years along with managing a hotel for several years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and trapping. They had a cabin 30 miles from Fort McMurray, accessible only by snowmobile or 6 wheel ATV and spent many happy family hours there. He retired from the mine in 1993 but continued working delivering KFC and managing a fly-in fishing camp until he had health issues in 1998. They moved to St. Albert in 2003 and enjoyed living there until Olive's passing in 2007. Jim returned to live at the farm at Alonsa in 2008, and kept busy helping with all the farm chores, looking after his large yard, quadding, and skidooing. He will be sadly missed and remembered in our hearts forever. A Memorial Service will take place on February 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alonsa Community Centre.
