JEANNETTE LORETTA KENNEDY (nee MONTPETIT) Jeannette passed away peacefully on February 16, 2011 in Metcalfe, Ontario, with her daughter at her side. She was 97, and recovered amazingly well from an earlier stroke. Sadly, a second stroke caused her final decline. Jeannette was born into a farming family in Vanguard, Sask. on June 17, 1913. While working in a small country hospital, she met Terrance Kennedy, and in 1938, they married. They moved to Flin Flon, MB, where they raised their three children. Upon Terrance's retirement in 1969, they moved to Winnipeg. Her final residence was the Township of Osgoode Care Center in Metcalfe (near Ottawa). Jeannette was happy there. She enjoyed drives in the country, and loved excursions to restaurants and ice-cream shops. Staff at the Care Center were fond of Jeannette and were wonderful to her. She was predeceased by her parents Evangeliste Montpetit and Marie-Anne Bisonnette, husband Terrance, son Lawrence (Norma), sisters Loretta Herman, Margaret Brown, Ella Chatterly, Bernice Chartrand, Gladys Montpetit, and brother Albanie Montpetit. Jeannette leaves behind son Terrance (Gail), daughter Ellen (Eric), grandchildren Scott, Colleen, Lesley, Mark, Joan, Karen, sisters Cecile Smith, Leona Reimer, Beatrice Beckley, Louise Damante, brother Charles Montpetit, and 15 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at the Care Center, with interment in late spring at Springhill Cemetery near Metcalfe. In memoriam donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. Jeannette was much loved and will be deeply missed.
