MABEL TKACHUK It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Mabel Tkachuk on February 16, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 71 years. Mabel leaves to mourn her loss her parents, Isaac and Nellie Barnes; daughter Denise (Wayne); sons, David (Tracy) and Glen, and two grandchildren. As well as brothers, Bill (Gertie), Clifford (Glenys) and Charles (Susan); and sisters, Anne (Eric), Georgina (Enos), Kay (Jim), Una (Marcell) and Ruby (Garry), all from Newfoundland; and sister-in-law Annie (Basyl) from Winnipeg. As well as a large circle of family and friends. Mabel was predeceased by her husband William Tkachuk. Mabel was born in Harbour Breton, and lived on Sagona Island until she moved with her family to Garnish. Mabel completed her education then moved into St. John's where she worked as a nursing aid. Shortly after she moved to Nova Scotia where she met Bill Tkachuk. In 1970 she moved with Bill to Winnipeg where she worked in Catering until 1990, when she retired. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Rev. Lyndon Hutchison-Hounsell officiating.
