DOUGLAS WAYNE WHITWELL April 19, 1946 - February 9, 2011 Doug passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Tanis of 42 years; daughters, Leah, (Gord) Stephanson, Marcy (Chris) Cavanaugh, Erin (Chris) Blender and Brooke Whitwell. Grandchildren, Jessica, Brendan, Aidan, Christian, Alexa and Connor. His father Bill Whitwell and sister Dale (Craig) Loucks, of Winnipeg, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Jessie (Jay) Whitwell. Doug was born in Winnipeg and graduated from Kelvin High School. He attended the University of Manitoba, was a member of DKE Fraternity and graduated in 1972 with his Chartered Accountant Degree. He was a coordinator of Inn From The Cold at Deer Park Church, Calgary for five years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Inn From The Cold Society , Suite 106, 110-11 Ave. S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0X5. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2:00 p.m. at Deer Park United Church, 77 Deer Point Road S.E. Calgary.
