HELENE AGNES (WEBER) UNRUH Helene passed away peacefully at Luther Home on February 21, 2011, at the age of 88 years. She is now with the Lord and her husband Victor. She is survived by her sister Poldi and family in Austria, her seven children: Helene (Robert Bauer) Winnipeg; Louise (Hans Schaffland) Calgary; Erika Unruh, Winnipeg; Hilda (Herb Martens) Rosenort, MB; Vic (Ellen Kristjanson) Winnipeg; John (Cathy) St. Jacobs ON; Anita Unger, Coquitlam, BC; 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Helene was born in Austria. She and her husband Victor emigrated to Canada in 1949, and settled in the Kildonan area of Winnipeg. For many years both were active members of the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church on Kingsford Ave. Helene was primarily a homemaker, but when her husband decided to purchase Rossmere Drycleaners in the late 1960s, she worked alongside him for many years. They both took pride in offering superb customer service, and still managed to make time for their family. Helene's crocheting kept her talented hands busy, and her family members proudly display many of her crafts. She was an avid baker, and Christmastime brought special joy with her home baked squares and cookies. Many a cookie care parcel survived a Canada Post trip and was much appreciated by those living out of town. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Luther Home for the loving care they provided. We also thank Luther Home's chaplain (our cousin Hanny Labun) for her spiritual guidance and friendship during Mom's stay. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment to follow.
