ERNEST KEITH BUCHANAN March 5, 1954 February 19, 2011 Ernie Buchanan passed away peacefully on February 19, 2011. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene, and daughters Maegan, Jaime and Erin. Also, his life will be celebrated by his mother Jacqueline; brothers Gerard, Gord (Linda), and Neil (Dawnie); sisters Cheryl (Blair) DuGray and Marlene Waite; mother-in-law Elma Dyck brothers-in-law John (Gini) Dyck, Reg (Kerry) Dyck and Garry (Faith) Dyck; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his father Keith, father-in-law John Dyck and sister-in-law Jo-Anne Buchanan. Ernie was the oldest child of Jacqueline and Keith Buchanan. He grew up in Riverview and attended Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and graduated from Churchill High School. He went on to graduate from Red River Community College as an automotive mechanic. Ernie left the automotive business in the late 80s. After his marriage, he spent a number of years as a stay-at-home Dad, raising his three daughters. Ernie started working at Piston Ring Service in 2006. He took pride in providing knowledgeable service to his customers. It was a job he thoroughly loved, as if taylor-made for him. Throughout their married life, Ernie and Darlene enjoyed cooking, baking, and doing renovations in their home together. The family would like to thank the staff on ward 6E at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and care. Every single staff member, from the cleaning staff to the health care aides, to the nurses, to the doctors and all the specialists in between -- you had the ability to make us feel like Ernie was your only patient -- and we thank you. A remembrance of Ernie's life will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy.

  • Cheryl sorry to here about your brother Ernie. We didn't know he was sick. We remember him at Park alleys when we all bowled together, with Lils brothers Mike, Guy, Collette and their dad Elie Gauthier. Take care . Jim and Lillian Cinnamon. - Posted by: jim cinnamon (Family) on: Feb 24, 2011
