Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRYAN DAVID THOMAS HARRIS 1929-2011 The family is sad to advise that early in the morning of February 16, 2011 Bryan Harris, in accordance with his wishes, passed away peacefully at home. Many thanks to the palliative care people from the Calgary Health Region and others for their support to Bryan and the family. Bryan was born in Llanelly, Wales. He served in the British Army in the Second World War and spent several years in the occupation forces in Germany after the war. During this time he met and married Vera (Bobbi) who pre-deceased him in 2004. Bryan began his career in microbiology in Oxford, England working at the Radcliffe Hospital. In 1964 the family immigrated to Canada and resided in Winnipeg where he finished his long career at the Health Sciences Centre as the manager of the Microbiology Laboratory. On Bryan's retirement, he moved to Calgary and spent his final years reading, browsing the internet and pursuing his interests in history. He is survived by his daughter Lindsey Pfeifer and son-in-law Kim Pfeifer both of Calgary, and sister Eira Woodward of Oxford, England. A farewell reception in his honour will be held at the Osteria de Medici Restaurant from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27 (by invitation only) for friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to his favourite charity the Calgary Humane Society, 4455 - 110 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta T2C 2T7.
