JOSEPH ZIGARLICK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and brother, Joseph Zigarlick. Joe died at home, at the age of 93, on February 6, 2011. Joe was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 20, 1917. He was predeceased by his loving wife Antoinie (Toni) in 1985 and is survived by his son Eldon, granddaughter Caitlin, sisters Vicky, Caroline and Rose and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joe grew up in Carrick, Manitoba and served his country in the Second World War from 1941-1946. He was a 50-year member of Transcona Legion Branch #7. Joe married Toni in 1947. He enjoyed his career as a heavy equipment operator, and retired in 1981. Joe had a very special relationship with his granddaughter Caitlin, who always made him smile and brought a twinkle to his eye. Grandpa always had a pot of soup, a story to tell and a meal to share. Those memories will be forever cherished and Grandpa is greatly missed. While we are sad he is gone and he will always be missed. We are grateful he was full of life and independent until the end. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, MB. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • The last time we saw Joe was in his home in Ste Anne in 1995. We are just sorry that we didn't see him after that date. The last time that we saw his son Eldon was far too long ago. It is hoped that we are able to contact him through this story. - Posted by: Peter J. Lawn (Brother-In-Law (of my wife)) on: Dec 21, 2012
