Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS (NICK) MACYKIW On Sunday, February 13, 2011, Nicholas (Nick) Macykiw passed away with his family by his side at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home at the age of 81 years. Nick spent his life dedicated to farming in the Sifton area and took great pride in raising his cattle to be among the best in the area. Nick was a very hard working man all of his life, and was known for never giving up when times were tough. Nick was a man who touched the hearts of whoever met him. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Anne, brothers Michael, John, and Bill, sisters Josephine and Sophie, and nephew Wayne Ferrier. He is survived by his sister Helen Ferrier, nieces Margaret Pachkowski, Betty Shumka, Shirley Pachkowski, Francis Duzsik, Carol Brooker, and Heather Gilson, nephews Mike Evasiuk, Mervin Evasiuk, Ernie Evasiuk, Lawrence Evasiuk, John Evasiuk, and Andy Evasiuk. There are also many great-nieces and nephews. Prayer services were held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 6:30 p.m., from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin, Manitoba. Funeral Liturgy was held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sifton, Manitoba, with Rev. Fr. Oleg Bodnarski celebrating. The cantor was Holly Hryhoruk. Heather Gilson, Nick's niece, delivered the eulogy. Interment followed in St. Josaphat's Cemetery in Sifton, Manitoba. Donations in memory of Nick may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, P.O. Box 392, Dauphin, MB R7N 2V4. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for the exceptional care Nick received while living there. Done Working I spent my life a working My chores were never done With calloused hands and sweating brow I did them one by one. But now that I'm done working I'll lay my burden down, And rest in his own loving hands God's paradise I've found. So do not grieve for me my loved ones My working days are through.
