Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERIE ANNE (CROOK) GALL (VAL) 1953 - 2011 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness the family announces our beloved Val passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at home in her sleep, at the young age of 57. Left to cherish Val's memory are her husband Edmund "Ed" Gall, daughter Heather (Ryan) Clark, grandchildren Max, Jacob and Stewart, son Sean Gall, all of Spruce Grove, AB, brother Russ Crook of Winnipeg, MB, sister Susan Crook (Mark Stephenson) of Saskatoon, SK, brother Rob (Debbie) Crook of Winnipeg, MB, sister-in-law Veronica (Junior) Cormier, sister-in-law Rebecca (Stu) Thompson, and sister-in-law Claudia (Henry) Hueging, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Horace Crook (1990 in Winnipeg, MB), and her mother, Gloria Crook (1995 in Stony Plain, AB). Val was born on March 24, 1953 in Winnipeg, MB and lived there until moving to Alberta in 1992. She attended Silver Heights Collegiate in Winnipeg. Throughout the years, Val held numerous positions in Winnipeg and Edmonton in the capacity of Administrative Assistant, some of which included Beacon Hill Lodges, KPMG, Manitoba Telephone System, and most recently Hawkings, Epp, Dumont in Edmonton. At one point she operated a home business in Winnipeg, Letter Perfect. Val's greatest joys were spending time with family and friends, sleepovers with her grandsons, her pets, and travelling to Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Some of her other interests included horseback riding (once having her own horse, Sunny), playing baseball and soccer, baking, cooking, listening to music, photography, reading, and surfing the internet. Among Val's hobbies were cross-stitch and making Christmas crafts for her home and for gifts. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and a kind soul. Val was fun-loving with a unique, infectious laugh, and she touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. As per Val's wishes, she has been cremated. A memorial service for Val was held on January 26, 2011 in Spruce Grove, AB. A memorial service for Val will also be held in Winnipeg, MB at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, where she will be interred close to her parents. The date and time will be announced in a future edition of the Winnipeg Free Press. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Val's memory to a charity of your choice.
