DONALD GEORGE BROMILOW 1946 2011 Don was born February 6, 1946 in Winnipeg, MB, and passed away with his family at his side at the St. Boniface Hospital on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the age of 65 years, succumbing to pneumonia. He will be remembered with love by his wife of 41 years Joanne (nee Hall); son Jim from Toronto, daughter Ellen Thompson, sister Susan Roller (Gary White) from Toronto; and niece Diana Lawlor (Craig) from Toronto. Don was predeceased by his father Wilfred; and his mother Doris. Don's career and accomplishments were very important to him. He started his career with the Bank of Montreal in 1967. It was there that he met Joanne, and they married on April 11, 1970. First in Saskatchewan and then back in Winnipeg, Don specialized in commercial lending, taking on increasingly larger portfolios. In 1997, Don moved to the provincial government, working with Rural Development in Altona, and finally MAFRI in Winnipeg. Don would have retired on February 28, 2011. An extremely proud family man, he considered rearing and educating his children his greatest accomplishment. Don was once an avid golfer and curler. More recently, his interests included watching movies, collecting DVDs, reading, dogs, cheering on the Blue Bombers Vikings, listening to the Eagles, and puttering in the yard. Our grateful thanks to the staff of the ICU at both the Grace Hospital and the St. Boniface Hospital for their exemplary care and compassion. A service to commemorate Don's life will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Cremation and final interment will have already taken place. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Don's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
