MICHAEL B. O'HARA July 29, 1932 February 19, 2011 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Mike , peacefully at the Grace Hospital. Robert Bob O'Hara (Wreford) of Duncan, B.C., seven grandchildren Leah, Julie, Gabrielle, Declan and Carter, two step-grandchildren Cole and Taylor, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike was predeceased by his parents Margaret (nee Burns) and Michael A. O'Hara, and sister Joan Grassby. Mike was born in Montreal. In 1937 he moved to Winnipeg which remained his home until his passing with the exception of the years 1961 to 1964 when he resided in Brandon. Meeting in the early spring of 1951, Mike and Shirley were married September 12, 1953. They loved to travel and did so up until last year. Mike was a people person who enjoyed relatives, old and new friends, neighbours and clients up to and including his recent illness. Following high school at Kelvin, Mike joined the Royal Bank in 1951. His career took him to many branches and assignments until retirement in 1988 as Manager at Portage and Collegiate Branch. He then happily took on many projects at the Black Sturgeon Estates cottage that the family enjoyed for many years. Over the years Mike was active in many activities including curling, camping, fishing, children's activities, church and politics. He was a former member of the Brandon and Winnipeg Kinsmen Clubs. As a member of the Gyro Club of Winnipeg for over 43 years, he served in many capacities including President and District Governor of this International friendship fraternity. Sincere thanks to Winnipeg paramedics, firefighters and medical staff for their capable care. At Mike's request, cremation has taken place. Interment will be at a later date. Dear Shirley and family. Pam & I were so sorry to hear of Mike's passing and extend sincere condolences to you all. As we moved away from Manitoba in 1980, it has been difficult to keep up with old friends. But, we have many fond memories of Mike and his friendly manner. We know he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Gary & Pam - Posted by: GaryandPam Turner (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2011
