CECILE FORTIER (nee RUEL) 20 Juillet 1919 - 26 Fevrier 2011 Paisiblement, samedi, le 26 février 2011, bien entourée de sa famille et de l'amour de ses ami(e)s, Cécile Fortier est décédée au Foyer Valade à l'âge de 91 ans. Elle laisse dans le deuil son mari, Wilfred Fortier, et ses quatre enfants, Henri, Brigitte (Gerry LaRocque), Augustin (Gisèle), Véronique; et bien aimée par Huguette et Gilles; huit petits enfants, Julie (Jeff Pate), David LaRocque (Nicola Watkins), André (Julie Paquin), Léanne Plamondon (Brett Ware), Patrick (Jennifer Bevan), Mélanie (Matthieu Gauthier), Nicole (Patrice Leclercq), Miguel (Brittany Krueger); trois arrière-petits-enfants, Sylvie et Kaylin Pate, Aubrie Ware; ses soeurs, Georgette Couture, Henriette Bilodeau, Marie Houde, Denise Lajeunesse, Rebecca Paquette et son frère Laurent Ruel; ses belles-soeurs, Soeur Lorette Fortier, Soeur Thérese Fortier, Soeur Bernadette Fortier, et ses beaux-frères, Henri-Paul (Alice), Roger (Gisèle); plusieurs cousins, cousines, nièces, neveux et ami(e)s. Cécile est née à Ormeaux, Saskatchewan, la huitième de dix-sept enfants. Elle a appris rapidement à prendre soin des plus jeunes, de faire à manger, de coudre, a tricoter et de travailler sur la ferme. Elle quitta l'école à 15 ans pour travailler à Saskatoon avec les pères Oblats. Elle se maria avec Wilfrid Fortier le 25 juin 1949. Ils ont acheté et opéré un magasin du coin à Mattes, Saskatchewan. C'est là qu'elle a commencé sa famille. Ils ont déménagé à plusieurs reprises avant de s'installer à Saint-Boniface avec leurs quatre enfants. Maman était une femme forte au coeur tendre, toujours prête à aider et à l'écoute des autres. C'était une femme courageuse et déterminée. Elle était une épouse dévouée de presque soixante-deux ans et une mère de famille attentive. Ses petits-enfants et arrière-petites-filles étaient pour elle une source de bonheur et de grande joie. Une femme young at heart aux yeux pétillants avec un sourire contagieux qui aimait être parmi le monde. Elle partageait sa joie de vivre avec tous les malades et les petites vieilles qu'elles visitaient. Elle était une femme de grande foi, de tendresse et de générosité. Maman avait une grande dévotion à la Sainte-Vierge. Elle récitait le chapelet matin et soir avec Wilfrid ainsi que plusieurs prières pour la famille et leurs ami(e)s. La famille tient à exprimer de tout coeur sa gratitude et son appréciation aux docteurs Dr. Joseph Partyka, Dr. Michael James Dillon, et Dr. Jean Prenovault, ainsi qu'au personnel dévoué de l'hôpital Saint-Boniface 4E, de l'hôpital Victoria 4N et du Foyer Valade pour leur compassion et leurs soins exceptionnels. Elle a passé ses derniers jours avec amour, confort et dignité. Merci beaucoup. Une célébration en son honneur aura lieu à l'église du Précieux-Sang, 200, rue Kenny à Saint-Boniface, le 2 mars 2011. La messe aura lieu à 14h00, précédée d'un visionnement à 13h00. L'inhumation des cendres aura lieu au cimetière de Saint-Boniface à un temps ultérieur. Chère maman, mémère et petite mémère, au cours de ta vie tu as tissé un lien si étroit avec tes enfants, petits enfants et arrières petites filles que tu as tant aimées. Cet esprit d'amour si vibrant sera toujours avec nous tous. Au lieu de fleurs, les gens sont invités à faire un don au Foyer Valade, 450 chemin River, Winnipeg Manitoba, R2M 5M4, à l'AMMI, 601 rue Taylor ouest, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0C9, ou encore à une oeuvre de charité de leur choix. CECILE FORTIER (BORN RUEL) July 20, 1919 - February 26, 2011 On February 26, 2011, peacefully, surrounded by her family and by the love of her friends, Cécile Fortier died at Foyer Valade, at the age of 91. She leaves to grieve her husband Wilfred Fortier; her four children, Henri, Brigitte (Gerry LaRocque), Augustin (Gisèle), Véronique; and was much loved by Huguette et Gilles; eight grandchildren, Julie (Jeff Pate), David LaRocque (Nicola Watkins), André (Julie Paquin), Léanne Plamondon (Brett Ware), Patrick (Jennifer Bevan), Mélanie (Matthieu Gauthier), Nicole (Patrice Leclercq), Miguel (Brittany Krueger); three great-grandchildren, Sylvie et Kaylin Pate, Aubrie Ware; her sisters, Georgette Couture, Henriette Bilodeau, Marie Houde, Denise Lajeunesse, Rebecca Paquette; and her brother Laurent Ruel; sisters-in-law, Sister Thérese Fortier, Sister Bernadette Fortier, Sister Lorette Fortier; and brothers-in-law, Henri-Paul Fortier (Alice), Roger Fortier (Gisèle) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Cécile was born in Ormeaux, Saskatchewan the eighth of 17 children. She learnt at an early age to take care of her siblings, cook for the family, to sew and work on the farm. She left school at 15 to work in Saskatoon with the Oblats Fathers. She married Wilfrid Fortier, June 25, 1949. They bought a corner store in Mattes, Saskatchewan which is where they started their family. They moved frequently until finally settling down in Saint-Boniface with their four children. Maman was a strong woman with a tender heart. She was always ready to help and listen to others. She was a courageous and very determined woman. Cécile was a loyal wife of almost 62 years and an attentive mother to her children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great joy and happiness for her. She was young at heart with sparkling eyes and a contagious smile who always loved being surrounded by people. She shared her joie de vivre with the sick and elderly people that she often visited. She was a woman with a profound faith, tenderness and generosity. Maman had a great devotion to the Virgin Mary. She recited the Rosary every morning and evening with Wilfrid along with many prayers for her family and friends. The family would like to express with all our hearts our gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Joseph Partyka, Dr. Michael James Dillon and Dr. Jean Prenovault, and to the devoted staff at the St. Boniface Hospital 4E, Victoria Hospital 4N and the Foyer Valade, for their compassion and exceptional care. Her final days were filled with love, comfort and dignity. Thank you very much. CECILE FORTIER A celebration of her life will be held in her honour at Précieux-Sang Church, 200 Kenny Street in St. Boniface on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. The mass is at 2:00 p.m., preceded by a viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Saint-Boniface Cemetery at a later date.
