Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEON HERMAN GLASSCO Change of Time of Service Leon Herman Glassco was born in Toronto, Ontario, on July 4, 1927. He passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on February 26, 2011. Leon was a gentle man with a passion for the arts. Born into a family of one brother Herman Leon Glassco, who predeceased Leon. Leon was an outstanding student and a track and field athlete at Jarvis Collegiate in Toronto. He achieved his B.A., B.S.W. and Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. Upon graduation Leon moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where he met Alison Strachan. They married and had two children, Andrew and Megan. Lee was a grandfather to Jeremy and Jackie, Andrew's offsprings. Leon was a pioneer in many ways. He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Manitoba Association of Social Workers as well as President of the Manitoba Institute of Registered Social Workers (1968). In addition he served on the John Howard and Elizabeth Frye Society. Leon was a Founding Member of the Fine Option Program. You will be missed Leon for your poignant sense of humour and your kindness and sensitivity to all you encountered. Please, Dad go in peace. With love from us all. Burial to take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 709 St. Mary's Road, St. Vital.
