JOAN HUGHES Joan Hughes died on February 28, 2011, at the age of 93. She leaves behind her five children, Colin with his wife Marjorie, Richard with his wife Noreen, David with his wife Pamela, Brian with his wife Linda, and Lana with her husband David. There are 11 grandchildren, Graham, Peter, Cameron, Andrew, Louise, John, Edward, Christopher, Thomas, Mitchell and Chloe. Her husband Charles died in 1999. Joan was born in Britain, travelled to South Africa where she met and married her beloved Charles, and with four boys they immigrated to Canada. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and an accomplished classical pianist and music teacher. She always loved her dogs. Many of her friends in Winnipeg will remember meeting her while she walked Baxter along the Wildwood dike. Joan spent her final years at the Lions Personal Care Home and the family is very grateful to the staff there for the loving care they gave to her.
