AMELIA (MELY) GONZALES Peacefully, on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre Mely Gonzales passed away at the age of 88 years. Mely was predeceased by her beloved husband Leo Gonzales on May 6, 1961. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Lynne, Lea Yvette (Ray), Cherry (Larry), Jayne (Elmer), Joyce (Neri), grandchildren: Jenny (Harry) and Kim, Leo and Lauren, Lovelyn (Paul), Kayla, and Chelsea, Chantel and Charlene, Charisse, three great-grandchildren: Kingston, Kaiden and Bryce. Mely was a school teacher in the Philippines prior to immigrating to Winnipeg in 1976. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. Lamay (Viewing) will be held on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6, 2011 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight with prayers being said at 7:00 p.m. both nights, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Peter's Church, 748 Keewatin Street with Monsignor Samson celebrant. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the neighbours that came to Mely's aid in her time of need.
