Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHE DORIS STARR February 15, 1929 - March 2, 2011 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our beautiful, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Doris is the matriarch of the Starr family. Her dedication to her family was ever-present, as she raised five sons and six daughters. Her 48 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren were an everyday blessing. All will mourn the passing of Gramma Doris. Mom loved to cook, sew and she loved planting her flowers every spring. We will cherish her handmade blankets that she made for all her grandchildren. Mom had a special recipe for the best homemade buns. She leaves to cherish her memory, Audrey Malcolm, Bradley, Howard, Crystal, Dillon, Whitney Joan Malcolm, Dwight, Shawna, Shane, Dean Mervin Starr (Sylvia), Rebecca, Mervin Jr., Lewis, Emma, Clay Freddie Starr (Candy) Virgil, Freddie Jr., Steven, Greg, Blanche, Dillon, Cal, Howard, Morning Gloria Beaulieu (Lyle), Renata, Joey, Amanda, Mathew Dolores Compton (Jim), Francine, Amber, Angel, James, Kathryn Mary Starr-Roulette (Jeff), Howard, Melissa, Jeffrey, Doris, Marie Cecil Starr - Evangaline Stanley Starr (Dodi), Jenna, Natasha, Stan, Jasmine, Justice, Cherise Lisa Starr-Roulette (Randy), Savana, Vincent Russell (Chuch) Starr (Carla), Tessa, Hailey, Russell Jr., Peyton, Drake . She also leaves to mourn her three sisters, Nora Popien, Frieda Klassen and Alma Jacques, brother Clarence Spence, special daughters-in-law Loretta and Sandi, in-laws Sarah and Joe Beaulieu, godson Morgan Beaulieu, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Howard Starr, in 1997. She was also predeceased by her mom, Mary Blanche Spence, brothers Cecil, Daniel, sister Adeline, adopted son Elton Whitehawk, granddaughter Destiny Hope Roulette and great-granddaughter Shanaya Rae Provost-Malcolm. The family wishes to thank mom's special companions Jennifer Desjarlais, Rocky McIvor, Marcel McIvor, staff at Portage General Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and the Aboriginal Health Services for their care and compassion. A special thanks to Marlene Mousseau for her extra special care of mom. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sandy Bay at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
