CARL THORSTEN CHRISTENSEN December 3, 1928 - March 2, 2011 Peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with his family at his side Carl died at Lion's Manor. Left to mourn Carl's memory is his wife Laureen; son Wayne (Arlene); daughters Randi, Vivian (Dennis); granddaughters Laura and Melissa; grandsons Ryan (Raelene), Jordan; sister Goldis and her family. Carl was born and raised in Vancouver and graduated from Van Tech High School. He believed in lifelong learning and completed courses in Marketing, Sales, Computer Programming and Management (CIM). He began his career at Burroughs Business Machines and later worked at Digital, Northern Telecom and Investors Group. During Carl's career he witnessed the evolution of the computer industry. He volunteered with Junior Achievement, the Essex and Kent Scottish Militia, was Director and President for Cambrian Credit Union and served as a Director for Credit Union Central. He was a member of the Shriner's Director Staff and in retirement Carl volunteered with CESO and at the Deer Lodge Hospital Getaway Club . Carl was a kind and loving man who dedicated himself to family and friends. He always greeted people with genuine enthusiasm and a broad smile. He believed in hard work, integrity, truth and a positive attitude. On Tuesday, March 8, 2010 Carl's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the third floor staff at Lion's Manor for their care and support.
