GEORGE C. COWAN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Cowan, who passed away on February 27, 2011 at the age of 62 at St. Boniface General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. George is survived by his loving wife Madeleine, his daughters Shannon (Phil) and Charlene (Dave); four grandchildren: Nick, Marcus, Zack, and Jordan; sisters Irene (Bill), Brenda (Ron), and brothers, Bob (Audrey), Barry (Shauna), and Art (Sherrie), nephews and nieces. He will be missed by many friends and extended members of the Isabey family. He was predeceased by parents George and Norma, and nephew Joshua. George worked in the meat processing industry for many years, most recently as sales manager with BJ Packers in Beausejour. He also co-owned a Certigard franchise in Fort Garry for eight years in partnership with cousin Art. He took great pleasure in a life full of work, travel, cruising, eating, hunting and fishing, live theatre at PTE, and passionately following all of his favourite sports teams. Our family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the care givers who rendered care and compassion in the past months, in particular the dedicated staff at the Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, and the St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit, and family physician Dr. S. Ahmad. At George's request, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering celebrating his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. Palliative Care Endowment Fund, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or The Children's Wish Foundation - Manitoba Chapter. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again - Love, Maddy Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
