DOUGLAS WALSKE With deep sadness, the family of Douglas Walske announce his peaceful passing on March 5, 2011 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Douglas was the eldest son of Mary and Albert Walske. He leaves to mourn his passing his brother Harvey, and his sisters Grace, Mildred, Beverley, Barbara and Karen. Despite life's challenges, Doug possessed great patience and mechanical skills that allowed him to be skilled at model building and bicycle repairs. He was the go to guy for any kid on Nelson Avenue that had a bicycle to be fixed. He was the uncle who pulled wagons and sleighs, gave rides and entertained all his nieces and nephews when they visited their grandparents. All hold special memories of Uncle Doug. Following his father's retirement, Doug spent many years working beside his Dad to maintain the cemetery grounds for the Lutheran Church. After his parents' passing, Doug, with Mike and later Joey were able to share a family sponsored home to provide for their care. With that, the family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers over the past 21 years who brought a compassionate, caring sense of home to our three guys . In honour of Doug and his parents, Walske Residence will remain a community asset. The family would also like to thank Dr. Demsas and the staff at Selkirk General Hospital for their efforts on Doug's behalf. A private family service will be held at a later date. Joan & I send our sympathies with Doug's passing. Doug was a quiet, kind & gentle soul. I remember Doug from a very early age as someone who although challenged went his own quiet way. He will be missed. Bill & Joan Gobert - Posted by: Bill Gobert (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2011
