Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARA RUTH EVANS Peacefully on March 7, 2011 at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by her loving family. Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 38 years, David Bruce Evans, in 1984. She will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed by her two daughters, Pam Bouchard (Ralph) of Aurora, ON and Diane Bond (Dennis) of Winnipeg; her five grandchildren, Allison Bouchard (Octavio) of Winnipeg, Jen Lechner (Ray) of Washington, DC, Cal Bouchard (Theresa) of San Francisco, Dave Bond (Lyndsie) of Winnipeg and Carrie Bond (Richard) of Winnipeg, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Alex, Naomi, Shelby, Sunny and Adison. She also leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. Clara was the last surviving member of the family of Sam and Clara Hutchings of Bird's Hill. Clara was born June 20, 1920 in Bird's Hill, the youngest of nine children, and was always known to her family as Babe . She received her early education at Bird's Hill School before moving to Winnipeg, where she graduated from Gordon Bell High School in 1937, and was employed by the City of Winnipeg Audit Department. Clara married Bruce in 1945 and they lived in Saskatchewan and Alberta before returning to Winnipeg with their two daughters in 1956. She joined the administrative staff of Silver Heights Collegiate in 1957 where she remained until her retirement in 1985. In her retirement years Clara enjoyed many good times traveling with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was the close and loving relationship she was able to maintain with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren even when separated by long distances. Clara was a shining example of how to live a life. She connected with everyone she met and her beautiful spirit will live in all our hearts forever. We are grateful for her quiet charm, wisdom, strength and quick wit, and for her 90 meaningful years. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Riverview staff for their compassionate care and friendship. A memorial service will be held at Riverview Health Centre, on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation.
