DOUG BERNHARDT It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doug on March 6, 2011. He leaves to mourn his fiancée Michelle and many family members. He was predeceased by his brother Earl, whom he loved and missed dearly. Doug's drive, determination, positivity, and I will live my life my way attitude served him well throughout his life. His love of running began in high school where he was the recipient of many awards. His career as an accomplished Journeyman Welder had taken him down many paths - up north to the Dewline, as an Instructor teaching his love of the trade to others, self employment, and many welding shops. There was nothing that Doug couldn't do when he set his mind to it. He had an adventurous spirit, and loved to scuba dive, ski, cycle and walk. He was tough on the outside, but kind hearted on the inside. He loved to make people laugh, and was a huge Monty Python fan. Doug and Michelle were inseparable and their love of travel had taken them throughout Canada, US, Europe and to Mazatlan. He also believed in supporting the economies of Grand Forks and Fargo, and never complained about having to carry all the shopping bags. Doug's life the last ten years had not been without its challenges, but he had remained strong in his faith, and with Michelle by his side, he got through it all. Doug, life will never be the same without you. I will love you forever. Cremation has already taken place. There will be no service. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca.
