THOMAS SHERBAN 1925 - 2011 With deep sadness, the family of Thomas Sherban announces his peaceful passing on March 6, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Tom is predeceased by his mother and father; three brothers, Mike, Ed, Walter, and son-in-law Ross McCormick. Tom will be cherished and remembered by his wife of 60 years, Margaret; brother (George); daughter Debbie; son Gary (Gloria); three grandchildren Cheryl (Scott), Greg (Lesley), Garett (Crystal), and great-grandchildren Nicholas and Mason including several nieces, nephews and old friends. Tom was born on October 29, 1925 in Prud'homme, SK. He worked for 35 years as a station agent for the Canadian National Railway in various Saskatchewan towns. As an enthusiastic fan of sports, he was involved in coaching son Gary in baseball and hockey. In addition, he spent countless hours at local rinks and community clubs whether it be curling, refereeing hockey games or watching his daughter Debbie figure skate. After retirement, Tom and Margaret moved to Oakbank, MB. He took on a new career working as a shop foreman at Arnold Bros. Transport in Winnipeg. Taking up residence next door to his daughter Debbie's family, he effortlessly eased into the role of dedicated, humorous, energetic and fun-loving grandpa. He was generous with his time, wisdom and encouragement. The hours spent with his family will be treasured lifelong memories. Tom enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and friendly, outgoing member of the community. He was always at the ready with the latest sports news and relentlessly on the hunt for the next big chance to strike it rich on a lottery ticket. His presence in our lives will be dearly missed. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date.
