VELMA SCHOENBORN It is with our greatest sadness and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Velma Schoenborn at the age of 72 years. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the St. Boniface General Hospital with her family by her side holding her close as she passed over into God's loving hands. Left to cherish and hold Velma's beloved memory are her husband Herby Schoenborn; two sons Chris (Brenda) and Sid; granddaughters Samantha and Katie; special niece Cheryl Palchewich for always being by her side; special friend Jonny Faykes for doing up mom's gardens at home and the cottage to make her proud; as well she leaves to mourn her sister Janet Horne; brothers Herbert, Clifford, Malford, Walter, Andy Steinke; and many relatives and close friends. She is predeceased by her parents August and Mary Steinke, brother Richard Steinke and sister Lillian Kyluik. We will always miss mom's smiling face, her jokes, and her way of adding laughter into any situation, her warm and kind, caring heart and the way she would do anything for anybody. Her love of family and the crazy love for all the puppies. Food was love at mom's house and her fabulous cooking always flooded the table with her love. On Tuesday, March 15, 2011 Velma's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital. We would like to express additional gratitude to Dr. Doerksen, Dr. Guzman and Dr. Wolfe for their extraordinary care and compassion for Velma over the last five years. Mom we do not know what we are going to do without you, you always made our world complete and every year ahead will be difficult until we are again to meet. No words can express the pain we are feeling for you are the one that gave life its greatest meaning.

  • Velma was a doer not a talker! She lived life as it was handed to her. She past her time in the garden fighting with weeds and pinecones. She could be seen climbing on anything that needed to be cleaned with whatever was around. At the lake she loved to mess by the outhouse. When asked where is aunty? you knew where she would be. There is not a day that goes by that we do not think of you. You were the glue that held the fam together. It's been such a hard year knowing that there is no longer Sunday supper at your place :( a sweet heart, and soul has been taken from us and left us all in sorrow! But all is not bad as we r glad you r no longer in pain. Like the song says you're in the arms of the angel may you find some comfort here. lov you always - Posted by: jonny (close familey friend) on: Mar 13, 2012
