MYRTLE EVELYN PATERSON (nee HARRIS) Peacefully on March 3, 2011 at The Maples Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB, Myrtle Evelyn Paterson passed away at the age of 88 years. Myrtle was born on September 29, 1922 and grew up in Clarkleigh, MB. On June 14, 1947 she married Ken Paterson and they resided in Winnipeg. Sadly Ken passed away on April 19, 1980. Myrtle continued living in their home on Hector Avenue until December of 1986, and at that time she moved into St. John's Haven on Grant Avenue, where she remained until her stroke in October of 2010. She will be greatly missed by her goddaughter Carol and her husband Bill Malcolm and their family, Jamie, Steven, Stephanie and Kimberlee, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and also very close friends Leonard and Paulette Terrick and family. Myrtle was predeceased by her loving husband Ken, parents John and Eva Harris, brothers Lynn (Josie), Cliff (Laufey), William (Lil). Myrtle enjoyed gardening, travelling, meeting with her Strollers group and especially visiting family and friends. Auntie made THE best homemade buns around. She also enjoyed playing cards, doing crosswords and playing scrabble with Leonard and Paulette. We would like to say thanks to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their nine weeks of care and to everyone at The Maples Personal Care Home for their wonderful care given. In keeping with Myrtle's wishes a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating, with a luncheon to follow. Service will conclude at the hall with an interment to be held at a later date in the Clarkleigh Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Malcolm, Steven and Stephanie Malcolm, Bob and Anne Harris, Leonard and Paulette Terrick, Lloyd and Beverly Harris and Brian and Colleen Harris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Myrtle's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St.,Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or to a charity of one's choice.
