Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET BERYL SEEMAN December 25, 1911 - March 8, 2011 On Tuesday, March 8, 2011 Violet Beryl Seeman passed away at St. Joseph's Residence in her 100th year. Beryl was born on December 25, 1911 in Winnipeg, the first child of Waldo Theodore and Edith Violet Seeman. She grew up on her parents' Saskatchewan farm near the village of Theodore. In 1935, Beryl graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing and in 1953 obtained a Bachelor Nursing Degree from McGill University. This led Beryl to her lifelong commitment to nursing education. She taught at the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing. In 1960 she was appointed Associate Director of Nursing Education at the Grace, a position she held until 1969. Beryl then moved to an education program for health care works at Municipal Hospitals from which she retired. Beryl was an active and Past President of the Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses. The Association honoured her for her contribution to the Nursing profession with Honorary Life Member in 1993. Beryl was predeceased by her parents, a brother Alwyn and baby sister, Heather. She leaves to mourn her passing her cousins in England, Anna (Nicholas) Martin, Andrew (Virginia) Reekie, Caroline (Anthony) Murray, Cornelia Welham, Tessa Ferguson and their families. Many friends will cherish her memory, most especially, Dorothy Wood, Bertha Toews, Arnold Page, Doreen Barrott and family, Alice and William Reynolds of Guelph, Ontario, Kristen Kinney and family of Kingston, and her beloved godson, Stephen Reynolds and family of Guelph, Ontario. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (corner of Donald and Graham). Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations in Beryl's memory can be made to Holy Trinity Mission Ministry, 256 Smith Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2C 1K1 or charity of one's choice. I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: Show me a light That I may tread safely into the unknown And he replied: Go forth and put your hand into the hand of God That for you shall be better than light And safer than the known way.
