Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySONIA ANDERSON (nee FLINTA) Peacefully in her 90th year, Sonia passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Remaining to forever cherish Sonia's memory are her children Doreen (Len) Wardale, Myrna Anderson, Andrea (Gordon) Saydack of Winnipeg and Wayne (Kim) Anderson of DeWinton, AB; grandchildren Debbie Wardale, Tracy (Troy) Michaels, Kevin (Susan) Bernhardt, Kristine (Adam) Juck, Terri Martin, Michelle Saydack and Jerret Jonzon; great-grandchildren Evan, Jayden, Ryan, Nathan, Raena, Caleb, Brody, Beckett and a ninth great-grandchild due in May; as well as two siblings, Alex Flinta and Helen Kauppila of Eriksdale; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Stefan and Anna Flinta; sister Jenny and brother Fred. Sonia was born in Poland and at the age of four immigrated with her parents, settling near Eriksdale, MB. In 1939 she moved to Winnipeg, where she was employed in the building supply industry. Sonia was married during the Second World War and became the mother to four children. As a single mother she worked tirelessly supporting and caring for her family. She was especially proud of her independence and achievements working with the Provincial Civil Service. Sonia retired in 1989, and during her retirement she enjoyed travelling throughout Canada and the United States with her Grand Lodge of Rebekah. She especially enjoyed her annual family Christmas visits to Calgary. In compliance with Sonia's wishes a private Service and Interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and, especially the care givers at Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their kind and compassionate care in her final days.
