JOAN CRAWFORD TAYLOR It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joan Crawford Taylor (nee Hilliard) on March 10, 2011. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, George; her son David (Sandra); sister Christine (Robert); brother-in-law Stewart (Madge); sister-in-law Anna (Bill); niece Christine; nephew Eric; and longtime friends, Ray and Joyce Hinson and Norman and Mavis Gudbjartson. She was predeceased by her loving son Andrew and brother William. Joan was born December 23, 1939 in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1957 she met the love of her life, George and in 1966 they immigrated to Canada where they made Selkirk, MB their home. Joan worked for the North West Company until retirement. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and loved to travel, her favourite place being Hawaii. She was a dog lover and had a special place in her heart for Pickles, Zac, Joey and Lucy. When she was not watching the latest British murder mystery movie, she would always have a book in her hand as an avid reader. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital on that final day of care, but in particular to Dr. Fuchs who was Joan's doctor over the years who once remarked You're a very interesting case . A memorial service will be held for Joan on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
