LEO KRAMER May 20, 1933 - March 11, 2011 Peacefully, on March 11, 2011, with his loving wife of 53 years by his side, Leo Kramer passed into eternity to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Leo is predeceased by his mother Martha, his father Gustav, his son Juergen, his sister Meta, and his stepmother, Emma. Leo will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Elsa (nee Schmidt), son Ottmar (Glenda), daughter Karen (Carl), grandchildren Trevor, Angela, Bryan, Allysha, Cameron, and six brothers, five sisters, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Leo was born on May 20, 1933 in Poland. In 1950, when Leo was 17 years of age, he and his family immigrated to Germany. Leo worked on his father's farm until the age of 21, and then proceeded to be employed at the Ford Motor Company for 10 years. In 1957 Leo married the love of his life Elsa. Their union was blessed years later with two sons, Juergen and Ottmar. Leo was full of wanderlust and wanted to provide a better life for his family, so in 1966 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two young sons by his side. Once in Winnipeg, Leo and the family made Immanuel Pentecostal Church their home church where they faithfully attended. Leo quickly found employment at Bristol Aerospace. Leo had a true passion for his job, and worked his way up over the years to be one of the head machinists there. Leo's love for his job was evident when he purchased his own metal lathe for tinkering around at home. During this time, Leo and Elsa were blessed with a third child, Karen. One of the many things that drew Leo to Canada was his love of the great outdoors. Most Saturdays were spent with his family on their boat fishing or waterskiing in the Whiteshell. Leo also loved to travel and his wanderlust never left him. Leo and Elsa made a few trips back to see family in Germany and there he was able to explore and visit sites and places he never had the opportunity to as a child. He also made road trips to Canada's East and West Coast, and as far south as San Diego, California. The Banff area was especially dear to his heart - he loved the mountains and made many, many visits there. He also enjoyed spontaneous day-trips to Gimli and Kenora. In 1994, Leo retired from Bristol Aerospace after 27 years. He enjoyed his retirement by continuing his travels, and perfecting his golf game. Leo also volunteered at the Western Canada Aviation Museum for 10 years, where he continued to use his skills as a machinist to help restore antique aircraft. Leo was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Trevor, Angela, Bryan, Allysha, and Cameron. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful Palliative HomeCare Team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or Youth For Christ. Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Avenue.
