Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSS ALLAN MCDONALD A beloved only son, Ross Allan McDonald, slipped peacefully away on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from complications due to pneumonia, at the Victoria General Hospital. He was the son of June and the late Edward McDonald of East Kildonan. Ross was born on June 13, 1948 at the Grace Hospital, a Downs Syndrome baby, a reality that affected his entire life and that of his family. He grew up as a happy child. He was never fearful. Rossie enjoyed himself and was a joy to know. Holidays were special times for Rossie. He spent summer vacations, Christmas and other holidays at home in Winnipeg with his family. As a young child, Ross loved going to Winnipeg and Grand Beach with his Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Bill (Ed's brother) and his cousins Andrea and Susan. Another special place was Camp Sandy Haven on Lake Manitoba, provided by the parents auxiliary to the Portage Manitoba Developmental Centre. It was a wonderful place to be with all the bells and whistles of summer camp and staffed by the MDC. Those were the days, dear friends! We remember them well! In mid-February of this year, Rossie moved into Winnipeg to take up residence at the St. Amant Centre. In the past year, he had experienced several bouts of pneumonia. It was to this that his tired body succumbed Sunday, March 6, and he went to be with Jesus. He leaves to mourn his mother, June McDonald, along with Winnipeg cousins, Leslie and Carl Culler, Andrea and Doug Braidie, Susan Kolody, and Marte and Boris Bachynski and family Lauren, Alannah and Mark as well as other cousins and their families scattered across Canada. A memorial service for Ross will be held on Friday, March 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Amant Centre, 440 River Road, Winnipeg. Donations in support of those with developmental handicaps may be made to the St. Amant Centre Foundation or a charity of their choice in Ross' name if friends so desire. Rest in peace in the arms of the Lord My beloved Ross I am glad I knew you. You will be forever missed. - Love Mom For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
