GORDON RIACH After a brief illness, Gordon Riach, beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Corbett) died on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at age 84 in St. Boniface Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Alan Riach and brother-in-law Bill Corbett. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eleanor, two sons, David (Gwenda) and Douglas (Melanie), dear grandchildren Samantha and Graeme, brother Drew (Alma) in South Africa and their family in Scotland and Singapore, sister-in-law Irene Barkley and family in BC, Bill's family in BC and California, and cousins Fiona and Margaret and their families in Scotland. Born and educated in Troon, Scotland, Gordon served in the RAF, and then immigrated to Canada in May 1948. He became an employee of CIBC where he worked until June 1986, retiring as credit inspector. Gordon served as a volunteer in many organizations and was President of the Manitoba Division of the Canadian Red Cross in the early 1970s. He was a long-time member of the ANAVET Pipe Band, the Kinsman Reh-Fit Centre, the Wildewood Club and several other organizations. An avid golfer and curler, Gordon lived life to the fullest. He and Eleanor enjoyed travelling extensively. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Cremation has taken place and at Gordon's request, no formal funeral service will be held. The family invites friends to a gathering at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 at the Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Road. The family thanks Dr. Kevin Coates for the good care and compassion he provided Gordon for many years. They also wish to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Gordon's memory may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Grandpa, you will forever be in our hearts. We have many wonderful memories of adventures we have shared, so much laughter, so much fun. Thank you for being such a big part of our lives. We love you. Samantha and Graeme
