Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN MORRISON It is with great sadness that we announce that Marilyn Morrison, of Winnipeg, Manitoba died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in her home, with her family at her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish Marilyn's memory is her husband Frank, of 60 years of marriage; children, Patti (Brian), Melanie (Garry), Sheila (Paul), Greg (Jenn); daughter-in-law Alison; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Jamie, Kristen, Ami, Isaac, Ryan, Brenden, Bradley, Christine, Scott; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ty, Auburn; sister Diane (Ron); brother Robert (Barb); Auntie Rita; nieces; nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Lillian and George Moon; sister Sheila-Mae; brother Danny and her son Robert. Marilyn was born in Kenora, Ontario on September 14, 1929. She grew up and attended schools in Kenora and later moved with her family to Port Arthur so that she could pursue a career in nursing. Marilyn began nursing in Port Arthur General Hospital where she graduated from nursing in 1950. She also worked at Victoria General, C.P.R.I. and the University Hospital after the family moved to London, Ontario. Marilyn cherished her life-long relationships with dear friends in the London and Kitchener area. Being a Winnipeg resident for 36 years Marilyn had many friends and happy memories of the Pembina Ladies Curling Club as well as lots of laughter and fun with her Bridge Buddies. One of her proudest moments was when she crossed the finish line of the Manitoba Marathon with her BFF Helen. Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother and was so proud of her family. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, with Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert, presiding. A reception will follow in Canad Inns, 1824 Pembina Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (Palliative Care Program), 204-237-2400.
