CONSTANCE JOYCE SCARLETT (nee STEUART) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Connie, on March 12, 2011 at the age of 86. Connie was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 2000, father Arnold Steuart in 1979, mother Beatrice in 1969 and infant daughter Roxanne in 1957; left to cherish her memory is her daughter Sheila; sons: Victor (Fay), Bill (Marilyn), Roy, Eric and Terry (Jacquie). She leaves six grandchildren: Evan, Kyle, Nicholas, Patrick, Dayna and Jordan as well as her brother Warren Steuart and sister Marjorie Coleman. Connie was born in Winnipeg, January 7, 1925 and was raised in Fort Rouge. She attended La Verendrye, Earl Grey and Kelvin High School. Upon graduation she worked at the CNR until she married Leslie Scarlett in 1954. She spent her time as full time mother until 1960 when she re-entered the work force. Up until her retirement in 1991, she worked a variety of office positions. She returned to school in 1981 to successfully complete the LPN training she had started after high school. Connie was a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend. Connie had a good sense about her and was a trusted advisor to many in the family and beyond. She worked hard and made countless sacrifices to ensure the success of her family. Her creativity with finances, shopping, reducing and recycling helped the family get to where they are today. It was through her efforts that the family had many enjoyable summer vacations at Grand Beach, the cottage at Sandy Hook, memorable Christmases as well the numerous family functions. Connie will be remembered for her love of travel, golf, reading, music and theatre. Connie loved all sports but was particularly a Blue Jays fan. Connie and Les would regularly watch the Jays on TV as well make a number of trips to Minneapolis to see them play. The family would like to thank the staff of Meadowood Manor and the Misericordia Health Centre for the care they provided to our mother over the past two years. In keeping with Connie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, would be appreciated. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
