MARIA AIELLO On March 16, 2011, surrounded by her family, Maria Aiello passed away peacefully at Poseidon Personal Care Centre at the age of 85. Maria was predeceased by her father and mother, Guiseppe and Filippina Adamo; brother-in-law Frank Aiello and his wife Maria Aiello, sister-in-law Albina Aiello, and cousins Pasquale Cuda, Fortunato Cuda, and Teresa Colosimo. Maria is survived by her husband of 63 years, Guiseppe Aiello; her two sons, Vince and Remo; her daughter-in-law Claudia; her grandchildren Kelly, Maria-Christina, and Kaitlin and her loving brother-in-law Mario Aiello. As Maria was an only child, her cousins took the place of true siblings. And so, also mourning her passing are her loving cousins: Guiseppe Manfredi, Giovanni and Vittorio Sposato in Italy; Teresa and Giacinto Torquato, Genoveffa Cuda, Bruno and Lina Cuda, Guiseppe and Rita Cuda as well as her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren whom she loved dearly. Maria's father was the first San Mangese to immigrate to Canada. Here, he helped to bring his family, his wife, his only daughter and her husband Joe to the country. After coming to Canada, Joe and Maria were instrumental in helping other families immigrate from San Mango D'Aquino. As a result of their effort together, more families immigrated and raised families in Winnipeg. Because of this, a community was established and a legacy has been left. Maria was so generous, making her heart and home available to all. She showered her family and friends with love and devotion. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Emergency Department at St. Boniface Hospital and staff at Poseidon Personal Care Centre for all of their hard work, dedication, kindness, and support. Viewing will be on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment in Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Active pallbearers will be Mario Aiello, Tony Cuda, Charlie Cuda, Fred Cuda, Armando Colosimo, Jack Morgante.
