Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRAHAM KENTON GILCHRIST August 21, 1960 March 16, 2011 With heavy hearts, Graham's family wishes to announce his peaceful passing on March 16, 2011. Graham was taken from us too soon, but we take solace in knowing that he is finally finding the peace and rest he deserves. Graham was a loving father, and a devoted husband, son and brother. Graham will always be remembered for his compassion, love and spirit of kindness. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lucie (nee Senecal); his daughter Michelle; and son Marc; his mother and father, Joyce and Roy; his siblings: Michael (Nancy), Kevin, Shelley (Gorden), Melissa (Tyson); father-in-law Maurice; brothers-in-law, Maurice and Ray; sisters-in-law, Louise (Brian) and Terry (Al), his nieces, nephews and countless friends and loved ones. He is predeceased by his mother-in-law Olive. Graham was born in Winnipeg, and lived in Windsor Park for most of his life. Graham had a kidney transplant in 1983 and lived through deteriorating health from then on. He married his high school sweetheart on March 21, 1987 and Lucie became his dedicated caregiver in his later years. For many years, Graham worked at the Concordia Hospital as an Operating Room Technician. Some of Graham's favourite places were Badger, Manitoba, Cape Coppermine, Victoria Beach and the cottages he so loved. Graham was also an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the great outdoors. Graham had an unparalleled passion for life, and a determination to enjoy his time with us regardless of the challenges he faced. Graham was a great friend, always quick to lend a hand wherever it was needed. He had a wonderful sense of humour, loved spending time with family and friends and always put others first. It was because of his extreme tenacity, strength of character, and sheer determination that he blessed us with his presence for as long as he could. His wife and children have been a source of great pride and love, and we know he will watch over them during this difficult time. Graham, you are loved, you will be missed, and rest easy. The family would like to thank everyone for their generosity, thoughts, prayers and words of comfort during Graham's last days in the hospital. Lucie would especially like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, particularly the Renal Transplant Clinic. A service to celebrate Graham's life will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Graham's name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada Manitoba Branch, Unit 1 - 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
