LILLIAN MARGARET DAVIDSON (nee May) January 12, 1919 - March 16, 2011 With sadness we announce that Lillian Margaret Davidson has passed. She died peacefully at the age of 92 at Lion's Manor. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Davidson (Walt) in July 1997 and by her parents John and Mary May; sisters Gladys, Winnie, Marge, Edna and Mabel; brothers Charlie and William. Left to celebrate her life are her children John (Elaine), Deena Evans (Patrick) and Janet Hooper (George); grandchildren Kevin and Jillian; step-grandchildren Cindie Miller (Don) and Sophia Wenzel (Gary); great-granddaughter Elizabeth and nieces and nephews. Lillian was the youngest of eight children and was born in Dauphin, Manitoba. She was very athletic and an enthusiastic participant in many sports throughout her life. In her youth she played softball, hockey and was a competitive speed skater. She enjoyed many years of curling, five and ten-pin bowling and golfing. It was only in the last five or six years that Lillian reluctantly gave up her bowling and golf. She was passionate about sports. Music provided great pleasure to Lillian and she spent many hours playing the piano. Mom had a real love for animals. She pampered her pets (which were mostly dogs with the occasional cat) as well as the squirrels and birds. It was not unusual to find her outdoors feeding the wildlife and tending to her flowers. She also found time to support the various charitable organizations for children, the Humane Society and her treasured wildlife. As a young woman, Lillian worked as a waitress and then as a sales person in a shoe store. And later when her children were grown, she was employed at Eaton's. Lillian was also active with the RCMP Ladies Auxiliary but, her favourite place to work and to play was Crescent Drive Golf Course. Lillian spent her last five years at Lion's Manor Personal Care Home. The family would like to thank the staff who cared for and supported her. They made her time there the best that it could be. She was an independent spirit, feisty, caring, loving and generous. Her family will miss and love her always. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg MB R3C 4G2 would be sincerely appreciated. Funeral Home Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Parking behind funeral home. Condolences: www.bardal.ca
