VICTORIA DOWHY (nee HUBUZA) It is with great sorrow that we regretfully announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, Aunty and Friend on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Victoria was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her loving family, son Derryl; daughters Sandra, Darlene and Jody (Mark); grandchildren Joanna (Cory), Stuart, Brett and Breanna; brother-in-law Eddie Kaskow, numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and U.S.A. Victoria was predeceased by her loving husband George Dowhy April 1, 1998; parents Dora and Stefan Habuza, sisters Anne Sappington, Anita Leiper Kyryluk and Jessie Kaskow. Victoria was born on March 26, 1933 and grew up in West Kildonan. It was in Winnipeg where Victoria Hubuza met the love of her life George Dowhy and married on October 27, 1956. They settled in Windsor Park to raise their family. Victoria was passionate about her family and home. The most memorable times were spent with her family and grandchildren in the backyard, barbequing and watching everyone in the pool. Mom was a great homemaker who had a flair for cooking the best home cooked dinners. Her love of plants and flowers were evident all around her home. Mom had a special place in her heart for her beloved Samoyeds, Snuggles and Misty. Mom enjoyed her many trips throughout the years. Proud of her Ukrainian heritage she enjoyed the religion, music, dancing, food, festivals and volunteering at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre. A Celebration of Victoria's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. with reception to follow. A private family interment will take place in Holy Angel Mausoleum. Special thanks to Dr. G. Morier, Heather Mackenzie, Palliative Care, Dr. E. St. Godard, Kate Hockridge, Bob Nieman, Minister Judy Limpright, family and friends for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 774-7483. Mom, it broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. Until we meet again... Love your Paparazzi.
