Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN EDWIN LEGGITT January 20, 1937 - February 27, 2011 We sadly announce the passing of John (Ed) Leggitt in Calgary, AB, at the age of 74 , after a battle with COPD. Ed is survived by his daughter Shelley and son-in-law Fred of Calgary, sons Shawn and Nolan Leggitt of British Columbia, daughter Hayley and husband Alex of Kingston, ON, sister Jackie, and grandchildren Devon, Conor, Rebecca, Sunny Lee, and Grayson. Ed had a long and passionate career in the construction business, beginning with Dominion Bridge and ending, before retirement, with Carwell Construction. In the 1970s Ed decided to go into his own trucking business with his dad Jack Leggitt and during that time Ed raised and showed quarter horses with his family on an acreage near Oakbank, MB. In his retirement Ed enjoyed his computer, cooking and baking, going for Sunday drives, playing with his dog Misty, and telling stories about his construction career. Ed had a persevering spirit that helped him in his personal and career challenges and even in the last month of his illness he was optimistic about a new start in Calgary. A private family memorial service will be held in summer 2011 in Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
