SHIRLEY RUTH JEFFREY (nee JEPHSON) It is with sadness that the family of Shirley Jeffrey announces her passing on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the age of 79. Shirley is predeceased by her parents Ruby and Howard Jephson and her sister Diane Stone. She will be very much missed by her husband of 56 years, Al Jeffrey; her children Heather and Uwe Jansen of Dauphin, MB and Kevin and Dianne Jeffrey of North Vancouver, BC and her grandchildren Marina and Dallas Jansen and Tyson and Kyla Jeffrey. Shirley was born in Calgary, AB and as a youngster moved to Winnipeg. Shirley and Al lived in St. Vital for most of their adult lives. The cottage at Lee River was an important part of Shirley's lifestyle for almost 40 years and was enjoyed by four generations including parents, children and grandchildren, as well as many good friends. Ahead of her time of she loved the outdoors and nature, and realized the importance of reusing and recycling. Shirley enjoyed arts and crafts and sewing; creating for herself and her family. Al and Shirley had countless wonderful vacations with many lifelong friends and for the past 20 years spent the winter months at their home in Pharr, TX. We have many wonderful memories of our life with Shirley. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate her life on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
