Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA SPITTAL (nee GESKE) January 3, 1916 - March 19, 2011 Peacefully at Rosewood Lodge on Saturday, March 19, Martha Spittal surrounded by her family passed to be with our Lord and Saviour. Mom was born on January 3, 1916 in Camper, Manitoba. She was one of 12 children born to Edward and Ida Geske. Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Cliff Spittal, nine siblings Gus, Wanda, Lil, Lydia, Olga, Fred, Bertha, Rudy and Lorraine. Mom is survived by her sister Norma (George) Flemming and brother Lawrence (Babe), numerous nieces and nephews, son Wayne (Jan), grandchildren Rebeckah (Shaun), Amanda (Paul), James (Kara) and Bryce as well as her daughter Val (Daryl), grandchildren Joel (Julie), Lani (Ken), Kara (Troy), Codi (Ian) and great-grandsons Trae and J.J. Mom valued family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she was a compassionate caregiver to many family members. Mom and Dad moved from Camper to Stonewall in 1958, then to Winnipeg where she was employed as a seamstress at Eaton's and back to Stonewall to prepare for retirement. Mom had a passion for cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, paper tole and gardening. Her awards for sewing and gardening were her prized accomplishments. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling, family gatherings and helping community organizations. Our families will be forever grateful for the care and compassion of Dr. Pinniger, Dr. Graham and the wonderful staff at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 308 2nd Avenue North in Stonewall, Reverend James Ko officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations to be made to Knox Presbyterian Church in Stonewall or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Too well loved to ever be forgotten.
