GARNET EDWARD SAUNBY (TED) 1941 - 2011 After a very brief but courageous battle with cancer Ted's heart gave out at Seven Oaks Hospital on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the age of 69. Ted will be missed dearly by his wife Adrienne, of 24 years. They met as school aged sweethearts and reunited as soul mates later in life. Ted leaves to mourn his son John T. Saunby, his grandson Brandon Saunby and Brandon's mom Kim. He also leaves to mourn his stepdaughters Lisa Fischer (Bill) and Venise Riehl (Bruce) and grandson Aaron Riehl. Ted will miss teasing his mother-in-law Merle. Grandpa Ted had a heart of gold and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by his many friends. Ted was predeceased by his mother Katherine Saunby, his father Burton Saunby, his brother Donald Saunby and his father-in-law Lucien Berard. Ted also leaves to mourn his many furry friends, Nevada, Major, Minor II, Dakota, Baby Bear, Rags, Chloe, Spook and Tippy. Ted and Adrienne took in any stray that came their way and gave them all a loving home. Ted will be reunited with some of his special critter friends Minor, Suze, Willey, Pupster, Little Kid and Porky. In Ted's younger years he was an avid football, lacrosse, and hockey player being coached by his brother Don. Ted had the honour of being called up to the Detroit Red Wings Farm Team. Ted began his work career many years ago at Eaton's in the meat department and deli with his dad Burton. He was a very hard worker and began a career in construction eventually starting a business as a concrete contractor and was later joined in the business by his son T. When concrete work became hard on Ted's heart he ventured into the Landscaping and Snow Removal business where he made many friends over the years. Ted loved to watch Nascar and football on TV and loved to swear at the TV when doing so. He enjoyed Saturday nights by the radio listening to Polka Party and used to love throwing big shop parties for his friends and family. As Ted's animals were always in his heart we gratefully decline flowers. In lieu of we ask that you make a donation to The Winnipeg Pet Rescue, The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Ted hated to dress up with a passion and so in keeping with his character we request that you come as you are, jeans and Dickies welcome! Ted's service will take place on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
