Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN CHUBA December 8, 1929 - March 20, 2011 Peacefully on March 20, 2011 John passed away at his home, the family farmstead west of Poplarfield, at 81 years of age. John was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Anna, brother Steve and sister Helen. John will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law George Lysak (Audrey), sister-in-law Pearl Chuba, nieces Cathy (Roger), Theresa (Cliff), great-nieces Helen, Kristi, great-nephew Scott and close friend Mike Lysak. Uncle John was born in Poplarfield where he attended High Plains School and like many young men took over the family farm when his father passed away. When times were tough John left the farm with his brother and worked in the bush camps to help out his father. Uncle John was a quiet, strong, hard-working man who never had any needs but to smell the sweet hay and smile every time a new calf was born. He loved family gatherings and friends and always had a good story or two to tell. He was always there to welcome everyone who visited him on his farm with a smile, a strong wave in the air. Uncle John left this world doing what he truly loved and that was farming. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Arborg with burial to follow at High Plains Cemetery, west of Poplarfield. Luncheon to follow at Poplarfield Hall. A good life, a simple life, that's what he led, He'd struggled like most, but came out ahead. And eventually, retirement, if ever a farmer could, Stop worrying or working, but he did it, for good. He enjoyed his last years, and made sure that he thanked, The Good Lord above for his life, and his land. They buried a farmer today. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
