DOUGLAS R. WATSON Captain Douglas R. Doc Watson, born July 26, 1922 and raised in Deloraine, MB, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the age of 88. Doug is survived by his wife Lorna, of 62 years, his four children, Marcia (Wes), Lois (Richard), Mark (Deb), David (Karla), 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Doug enlisted with the R.C.A.F. in 1942 and served as a flying officer during the Second World War. Doug and Lorna Phyllis Lee of Minnedosa, MB were married in 1948. He began a general law practice in Roblin, MB but sold his practice to rejoin the R.C.A.F. as a pilot in 1957. His final posting was to Winnipeg, MB in 1966. Doug retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1970 with the rank of Captain and he and Lorna spent their retirement years touring North America in their camper-trailer. Doug was passionate about music. He played several instruments both in dance bands and at church functions, was a soloist and sang in a barbershop quartet known as the Portage-Airs. His presence, and his rich baritone voice, will be sorely missed by the congregation of Grace Bible Church and by friendships established at Lindenwood Manor. The funeral service for Doug Watson will be held at Grace Bible Church, 366 Oakwood Ave. on Saturday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
