JUNE ABRAHAM (nee SABOVITCH) 1945 - 2011 In the quiet, early hours of the morning, March 20, 2011, June died peacefully at the Poseidon Personal Care Centre. June was predeceased by her husband Larry; her parents Joseph and Marie-Ange; her brothers: Adelard, Lionel, Albert, Ross, Edward, Dennis; her sisters: Beatrice and Denise; her brothers-in-law Ray, Gordon and Ron. She will be remembered by her sisters: Rita (Karl), Irene, Adele, Edna and her sisters-in-law Janice, Shirley, Mary, as well as her nieces and nephews. June attended elementary school in Garson and high school in Beausejour. At the age of 18 she entered the workforce at the Swift Meat Packing Plant in St. Boniface where she proved herself to be a diligent employee during 14 years. She then worked at the Burns Meat Packing Plant, now Maple Leaf, until failing health caused her to leave after 29 years of faithful service. In her youth June enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. Swimming in the clear, green waters of the Garson Quarry was a favourite fun thing to do in those carefree days of yore. June loved all little children, especially Brayden, her grand-nephew, her nieces and nephews. Gramma June was very special to her step-grandchildren. She and Larry resided in Dugald for over 30 years where their door was always open to family and friends. June also deeply loved her dogs, Rags and Molly, which she pampered and of which she was so proud. Their presence in her life brought her so much joy and happiness. The family gratefully thanks all the home care personnel who cared for June at her home, the staff on 5A South in St. Boniface Hospital and the staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home for their dedication, kindness and support. In keeping with June's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Interment will follow at a later date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to a charity of one's choice. The pain has vanished Eternal rest has dawned She is now safe in God's keeping. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086

I was saddened to hear that one of my childhood friends has passed away. I remember how much fun we had swimming in the Garson Quarry and living in Garson. I wished I could be at the funeral, but have another funeral to go to at the same time. Much love to Edna and the rest of the family, Pam Simmons (Rennie) - Posted by: Pamela Simmons (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2011
