Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS TRESSA MAY GRIFFITH (nee Newsham) May 5, 1919 March 22, 2011 Peacefully in her 91st year, Phyllis passed away at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce, brothers Gerald, Ernie, Jim and Lloyd, sisters Audrey, June, Ivy and Maureen. Phyllis is survived by her sisters Dorothy and Delta and numerous nieces and nephews. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children Ed (Jane), grandchildren Mamie, Ben, Angie and Jamie; Ron (Lil), grandchildren Jason and Devon; Trish (Wes), grandchildren Cole and Clay. Phyllis was born in Birtle, MB and settled in Bissett where she met and married Bruce after the war. Later the family moved to Lac du Bonnet where the family lived and grew up. She was actively involved in many social events and loved to be with her friends at the Pioneer Club. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards and the piano at Bona Vista Lodge. She loved to decorate for the holiday season and enjoy all the festivities. Spending time with the grandchildren was very special for her, watching them play sports or enjoy a family barbeque always kept her smiling. Always on the go, she led a very active life, and was happy to be involved in the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary or the Pioneer Club. Phyllis truly valued her faith and all her family at Lutheran Church of the Cross. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Van Gend and all the staff at the Pinawa Hospital all the care during her extended stay. A very special thank you to all the nurses and staff of the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for their loving and compassionate care during her final months. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 253 McArthur Avenue, Lac du Bonnet, MB, R0E 1A0. Pastor Glen Krentz will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made Lutheran Church of the Cross at the above address.
