Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA (KATZ) FREEDMAN With great sadness, after a short battle with cancer, we announce the peaceful passing of Leona, age 67, on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Riverview Health Centre, with her family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Norman, sons Jeffrey (Cairn Moore), Larry (Cheryle), brother Jerry (Terry), grandchildren Jordan, Cyra, Reese and Tamir. She also leaves to mourn her brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Leona was predeceased by her parents Israel and Bella, her sister Frances (Katz) Standil and sister-in-law Lois Katz. Leona and Norman enjoyed almost 49 years of marriage before her passing. Leona returned to school in her later years graduating with a Social Work degree and worked at C.N.I.B. for 16 years prior to her retirement seven years ago. She enjoyed summers at the cottage and traveling. She was a very loving and giving woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Pallbearers were Jerry Katz, Elliot Katz, Don Katz, Earl Standil, Gary Freedman and Alain Vermette. Donations can be made to CancerCare, Riverview Health Centre, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights or a charity of your choice.
